Demystifying vRealize Automation – Getting it Right!

Purpose:

Recently I got a request to from my colleague Raminder Singh to deliver a session for customers on vRealize Automation (vRA). Though vRealize Automation is generally available for few years, still it seems there are challenges faced by customers. Specially if they are trying it out for the first time. This post aims at clearing the confusion and making it clear what steps needs to be done while implementing vRA. If you want to clear your concepts around this technology then this post is for you.

Introduction:

Building a Cloud environment using vRealize Automation has two parts. First part is to be able to successfully deploy all the components of vRealize Automation and getting it running. The second part is configuring it to successfully create a Cloud environment. In my opinion first part is easy but second part requires overall understanding of concepts related to vRA environment. Before you can configure it, understanding the different flows and sequence to be followed needs to be clarified. So in this post I will try to clarify the following:

  • First explain the different components of vRealize Automation and what each of them do.
  • Second, the general flow of roles and responsibilities. Also different tasks that needs to be done logically so that a successful working Cloud can be built.
  • Third, giving a demo showing everything that we covered in theory.

Provided below is the video of the Webex session I did covering the above points. Go through it and let me know if it helped you.
